The end of FOB?

We knew something was up when Fall Out Boy released their Greatest Hits late last year and there was no word on a tour or new material following that move. Instead, they opted to take “a break with an indefinite date when they’re coming back”. Worried fans even tweeted us to find out if FOB will stay together.

Bassist Pete Wentz practically confirmed suspicions when he blogged that he “can’t predict that I’d ever play in Fall Out Boy again”. Earlier this week, he said on his blog: “As a band we grew apart… if this is our legacy than so be it.”

Now, lead singer Patrick Stump has told Spin magazine: “I’m not in Fall Out Boy right now – but one way or another, the band will always be around.” He revealed however that he had something else in the works already. “I’m so psyched about where I’m at right now, recording this solo album.”

Oh dear, we know this isn’t good news for fans but look at it this way, if this is a break up, you can always hope and look forward to a reunion down the line. They have not ruled that out yet. “There is a possibility that FOB will play again with or without me,” says Pete.
