Selena Gomez has given up her internet habit -- because hateful comments left the Disney star devastated.
It's so hurtful, the things people say.
The Wizards Of Waverly Place actress used to regularly film videos to share with her fans on YouTube.com, but she admits she stopped uploading the clips because she came across so many hurtful messages.
And the 17-year-old admits quitting the virtual world has made her feel happier in real life. She says, “I’ve given up the internet. I don’t read comments, and I don’t go on any of the sites anymore, and I just feel better. And it’s not about being a celebrity -- you get on MySpace, Facebook, there’s all these different outlets where people can just feel like nobody’s watching them so they can just say whatever they want to say, and that gets dangerous sometimes.”
Looks like Selena’s fragile ego got hurt. But hey, the internet is also the place to go when you could use a little ego-boosting, when your fans appreciate you. You gotta take the bad with the good, kiddo!
