Popular disc jockey, DJ AM was found dead in his apartment in New York just a few hours ago.
The circumstances surrounding his death are unclear. However, TMZ reported that a law enforcement source on the scene said that drug paraphernalia were found in the apartment. DJ AM had talked openly about past addictions to crack cocaine, Ecstasy and other drugs, but he claimed he had been drug-free for years.

DJ AM, whose real name was Adam Goldstein, had not been seen for a few days which prompted his friends to check on him. But when he didn't answer the door, the friends called the police. However, it was the fire department who broke into the apartment and found the body.
Although a DJ, he achieved celebrity status when he dated celebs such as Nicole Richie and Mandy Moore. He was said to be devastated over his recent break-up with his girlfriend, Hayley Wood. She called off the relationship last week.
He survived a plane crash in South Carolina in September 2008. Later he told People magazine, "I can't believe I made it. I've prayed every night for the past 10 years. There's a lot more to thank God for now. ... I was saved for a reason. Maybe I'm going to help someone else. I don't question it. All I know is I'm thankful to be here."
He was said to have a hard time dealing with post-traumatic stress after the crash.
